The new way to trade with Mexico

IMMEX & RFE Alternative: FTZ in Laredo, Texas

Faster, safer, and simpler than setting up IMMEX or RFE—keep your inventory in the U.S., ship to Mexico on demand. No duties paid in the U.S.

Monterrey in ~3 hours • Same‑day to CDMX available • FOB Laredo pickup

Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) > IMMEX/Recinto Fiscalizado Estratégico (RFE)

How the FTZ works

1. Ship to our FTZ in Laredo

Typical routings: Asia → ocean to Long Beach, rail to San Antonio, then final delivery to our Laredo FTZ (usually arranged by the steamship line) or we pickup at the Laredo depot. Europe → ocean to Houston; we collect at the port and deliver to our warehouse.

2. FTZ admission & storage

We receive, inspect, and admit the goods into FTZ status—no U.S. import duty while inside the zone.

3. Release to Mexico JIT

Your Mexico customer arranges FOB Laredo pickup with preferred carrier/broker for Just-In-Time (JIT) Manufacturing

Why FTZ instead of IMMEX or RFE?

Instant Setup

Full Control

No Mexico entity, shelter, or RFE setup. Avoid incorporation, shelter contracts, and ongoing program compliance.

Minimal paperwork. For FTZ admission and export, you only need an invoice and packing list.

Duty deferral & avoidance. No U.S. import duties while merchandise remains in our FTZ; no U.S. duty when exported to Mexico.

FOB Laredo convenience. Your Mexico customer typically wants to pick up orders with their own preferred carriers and customs brokers, often at better rates due to their large volumes across vendors.

JIT (Just-in-Time) speed to Mexico. Monterrey ~3 hours from our door; same‑day linehaul to CDMX/GDL/QTO available with partner carriers.

U.S.‑based control & security. Keep inventory in a secure, audited U.S. facility with real‑time visibility and tight process control.

Flexible distribution. Replenish U.S. warehouses on demand; consolidate international shipments; perform value‑add (kitting, labeling, QC) inside the FTZ.

Lower total cost. Skip IMMEX/RFE startup, shelter fees, and local overhead while retaining agility as demand in Mexico grows.

Case Study

Accelerating Supply Chains for a
Raw Materials Client

A leading commodities company partnered with us to enhance their cross-border shipping efficiency to IMMEX customers in Mexico.

Challenge: The client needed to ship Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) products to their IMMEX customers and Full Truckload (FTL) products to another customer in Mexico on a weekly basis. Their turnaround times were slow, ranging from days to weeks, affecting their ability to meet customer demands promptly.

Our Solution: We utilized our FTZ warehouse in Laredo to streamline their supply chain:

Bonded Warehousing: Provided secure storage in our Laredo bonded warehouse, allowing them to avoid immediate tariffs.
Technology & AI Automation: Simplified requirements and offered live tracking of inventory, pickups, and drop-offs. Provided same-day 7512s or 214s documentation.
Cross-Border Transportation: Managed transportation and customs brokerage in both the U.S. and Mexico using containers, dry vans, and flatbeds.

Result: Reduced their shipment turnaround time to same-day or next-day fulfillment. The client could respond swiftly to their customers' needs, improving satisfaction and gaining a competitive edge.

This success story highlights how our FTZ Laredo services, including bonded warehousing and comprehensive logistics solutions, can transform your cross-border operations.
